Je m’en fous
“Je m’en fous” is a celebration of strong women and the freedom to grow older without sacrificing personal style or self-expression. Inspired by the powerful women in my life, my mother and grandmother from Belgium, this collection embraces authenticity, individuality, and age-inclusive fashion. It began intimately, with photographs of them in my grandmother’s home, a space filled with emotional and symbolic value. That connection to Belgium became a central thread throughout the project.
The collection challenges traditional perceptions of aging through bold colors, layered prints, and experimental textiles, elements rarely associated with older women. I wanted to confront and dismantle the idea that fashion must become conservative with age. The message is simple: you don’t have to change who you are just because you’re getting older. Self-expression has no age limit.
I also explored my heritage through traditional Belgian textiles, particularly Brugge lace, reinterpreting it as a modern, integral element of the garments. This blend of tradition and innovation connects past and present, honoring culture while pushing boundaries.
Though inspired by women, the collection is not bound by gender. It’s inclusive and universal. Models of different ages reflect the diversity I hope to amplify in the fashion world. I don’t want to exist in just one creative space,I want to belong everywhere and tell stories that resonate widely.
“Je m’en fous,” meaning “I don’t care,” embodies the fearless confidence that comes with self-acceptance. This collection is not just about fashion, it’s about identity, heritage, and unapologetic expression at every stage of life.
