This project was initiated based on research indicating that traditional shoes with narrow toe boxes deform the natural shape of the foot. Expanding the toe box can result in several benefits such as improving balance, promoting agility, and alleviating common toe issues like bunions, increasing circulation, and reducing the risk of injury. The design of the last is inspired by the natural separation of toes when they are spread. Two different types of toe separations are incorporated into the last design.
