“If we opened me up, we would find beaches.”

The quote of the French filmmaker Agnes Varda “If we opened me up, we would find beaches.” accompanied me through the last year and in the end became the chosen title of my collection.

Deriving from the emotion of rage, I started searching, seeking and in the end lifting up the various layers to find the origin in myself. These tensions, frictions and feelings surrounding this theme were guiding my process in combining all kinds of associations that I had, as a female designer and artist in the world in connection with garments. In my process of finding shape I draped with boxing gloves, thick leather and delicate knits. The material use was organic by following my intuition in using old and handmade techniques in leathermaking, knit, reuse of vintage garments, bleach and self-dying. This collection doesn’t seek to use its Orlando-esque characters for displaying just nice garments. Rather they are challenging the traditional angle of perception on a female fashion collection. Being humorous bullheaded they are proposing themselves as new beauties with a sea-salty edge. Their destination is the poetic shelter at the sea of the deconstructed anger in form of a whale.
