In this performance installation I trace back my own sense of self as a transgender body, through my own memories and how my body is connected to the world around me.
It is a result of an extensive research on what memories my body holds and where it is stored, as well as it being a result of me tracing back the IJssel River to connect to what lies beyond the self.

Do you remember the first time you were aware of the idea that the people you meet in your life are somewhat strangely connected to you as of right now? Or maybe you haven’t thought about it at all. In my work as a multidisciplinary artist and researcher, I explore how one’s personal identity can be most prominent through memory and the passing of time. My body of work plays with the connection that memory and time hold to the human body, combining elements of space and language to investigate this connection of memory and the passing of time through bodily interactions. I want my body of work to serve as an invitation to surrender to the liminality of life, to give over to the idea that we are connected to something that is bigger than the self, and that what is gone doesn’t necessarily mean that it is lost.
