het Binnenste naar Buiten – The Inside Out
This work is the result of my research into objects that represent different facets of our inner world during psychodrama-therapy. Psychodrama is a collaborative process between a therapist and a client, working together to explore the client’s inner world. This form of therapy allows clients to add a third dimension to their healing process by projecting their inner world into the physical world. By using tangible objects as representations of inner conflicts, feelings, or traumatic experiences, clients can externalize their inner world, facilitating a deeper exploration of what’s happening inside. Interacting with these objects enables clients to gain insights, process experiences, and experiment with moving the pieces around to observe the effects it has on them. This process requires a lot of curiosity from both the therapist and the client. It is crucial to place objects intuitively while taking everything seriously. Even subtle adjustments, such as moving or turning an object around, can reveal much about the client’s inner experience. While the objects currently used in psychodrama, such as chairs and Duplo figures, have proven to be effective, I have designed a series of abstract objects with the aim of transcending rationality. These objects are carefully designed to awaken intuition and creativity. This allows clients to explore and change their own structure without imposing specific interpretations or suggestions. Another part of my graduation work is the visualization of the metaphorical House of Healing. By conceptualizing healing as a journey through different rooms within this metaphorical house, therapists can help their clients navigate key points in their psychological structure that may be damaged or in need of attention. This approach integrates the concepts of healing, architecture, and the body, emphasizing the interconnectedness of physical and emotional well-being. This visualization creates a tangible framework for exploring and addressing our inner worlds. *The house of healing is a metaphor from the book Traumaseksuologie & Psychodrama from Peter John Schouten.
